Hailey Hertzman and Katie Vonder Haar, Teen Owners of Business Offering Gifts and Accessories

for the Young and Young at Heart, Featured on The Today Show on September 11

Louisville, KY (Sept. 11, 2019) –Hailey Hertzman and Katie Vonder Haar,  14-year-old best friends and founders of Ooh La Lemon LLC, were featured on The Today Show on September 11, 2019.  https://www.today.com/video/meet-the-13-year-old-entrepreneurs-behind-ooh-la-lemon-68659781984  Hertzman and Vonder Haar were interviewed about having the opportunity to attend an exclusive VIP celebrity event and gifting pet accessories to the presenters and nominees of the Primetime Television Awards next week in Los Angeles.

These two ambitious and charismatic young ladies are the youngest business owners to sponsor gifts at this VIP event.

The Today Show segment focused on how Hertzman and Vonder Haar got started, how they have grown their business, how they have expanded their product offerings, and plans for their upcoming trip to Hollywood.  After the story aired, Ooh La Lemon received 100s of orders on its website and is in the process of fulfilling them.

Hertzman and Vonder Haar founded Ooh La Lemon in June 2018 to offer clothing, accessories and gifts that appeal to the young and “young at heart.”  Ooh La Lemon’s products are available for purchase online and at pop up shops in their hometown of Louisville, Washington, D.C. and other cities. Classmates and long-time friends, Hertzman and Vonder Haar got their first taste of sweet entrepreneurial success at the age of 11 when they hosted a lemonade stand in 2017 and earned over $500 from selling lemonade outside of a local Kroger supermarket. They donated some of their earnings to a residential facility for disabled adults. Their experience was so positive that they wrote an essay and entered a contest sponsored by Lemonade Day, a national youth entrepreneurship program that teaches kids how to run how to start and operate their own lemonade business.  Serendipitously, they won the contest, earned the title of 2017 National Lemonade Day Youth Entrepreneur of the Year, and used their prize money to launch Ooh La Lemon.

Vonder Haar said “It was like a dream come true to see ourselves on The Today Show!  I could not believe The Today Show hosts were talking about our business!”

Hertzman added that “We have had so much fun working together and creating and growing our business.  We highly recommend that other teens follow their passions too --- all the hard work pays off!”
